This wooden tool is used for splitting willow rods into three pieces, the first step in preparing skeins for weaving. Made from various hardwoods in southern Kentucky, our handcrafted cleave fits well into your hand. The wooden cleave becomes smoother and smoother with each use.
Cleaves vary in overall length from 3.5 to 5 inches. Each cleave is unique in shape and size. Approximate diameter: 1" - 1.5".
