Description
Description
Paddy Coleman O'Toole originally learned the skill of making lobster pots from his father. Here he shows how he makes a lobster pot in his own particular style from brown willow and also demonstrates how the pot is used. Paddy lives on Inishturk, an island off the coast of County Mayo, where he and his wife currently run a B&B.
This DVD is one of a set of 3 DVDs demonstrating the use of brown, buff and white willow by three individual basketmakers (Norbert Platz, Bill Sinnott and Paddy Coleman O'Toole) living in Ireland in 2010. Produced by the Irish Basketmakers Association; 54 minutes."This fine series of basketmaking films give a vivid account of a vital element of our material culture, far more enlightening than reading about it. The DVDs focus on uniquely Irish aspects of basketmaking where techniques particular to this country are being used." Joe Hogan, author of Bare Branches Blue Black Sky. This DVD is NTSC format (commonly used in the United States and Canada).
