Workshop details
“Wattle and daub” is one of humanity’s oldest building techniques: vertical stakes woven with branches to form the walls of Europe’s charming half-timbered houses, a method dating back over 6,000 years. The Rugby Wattle basket draws on that same interlocking spirit, adapted from a pattern in Zarzo Baskets and Trays by Ulla Misser. Dani has reimagined the design with the inaugural Rugby Weave in mind, using different sizes of round reed to create a sturdy, beautiful basket with a rose knot and playful handle that make it a real showstopper. You’ll have embellishment options to make it your own, including bullrush harvested from the Anderson family farm (as seen in the x-pattern on the sample basket) and other materials. No two will look alike. The basket dimensions are 13″ W x 9″ L x 8.5″ H.
