Description
This 3-4 hour class is an introduction/beginner class in creating a coiled linen bracelet. Participants will have hands-on experience learning how to create a coiled linen bracelet, add or change colors, create a pattern, and finish the end. You will complete a coiled linen bracelet (size to be determined by student) You will be able to customize your bracelet with colors of your choice. (Students may bring a special button or bead from their collection to be incorporated into the bracelet if they wish).
Price $25.00, includes materials to complete one bracelet, includes linen thread, nylon cord and tapestry needles as well as a button or bead for closure. Participants will receive a handout that will include supply sources. Additional materials will be available for purchase after the class if you wish to make other bracelets.
*Students must bring one small sharp pair of scissors.
About the Teacher:
Maria Tinnell is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She studied under Lida Gordon at the Louisville School of Art and at the University of Louisville (UofL) studying fiber construction and surface design. It was during that time that she started creating coiled baskets. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from UofL with a major in textiles, and a minor in printmaking in 1984. She has been creating coiled linen baskets for over 40 years. Her work has been printed in Arts Across Kentucky magazine and Louisville Today magazine.
