The Butler County Arts Guild is offering a 10” Melon-shaped Egg Basket Workshop - what a classic! Create a great basket that’s perfect for gathering eggs, holding your sewing project or taking along for a shopping adventure! Enjoy making this generously-sized easy-to-make basket; recommended for you if you have never made an egg basket. You’ll learn the Kentucky-style ‘eye’ and rib construction. The spherical shape makes this the simplest egg basket; hoops are made of oak, ribs and weavers of natural reed material. Size: 10 inch diameter. We hope you can join us for a fun day of weaving. I’ll be teaching you the techniques I learned in the early 1980s from Ollie and Lestel Childress, 4th and 5th generation white oak basket makers from Park City, Kentucky. I hope you can join us!
